The 3rd ‘Goren’ art piece was commissioned to be installed permanently in the new Drama theater complex as the statement piece in its main Hotel lobby. Central China Real Estate (“CCRE”) one of largest real estate companies in China (#30) and the biggest in the Henan region built a complex park of theaters that the hotel is serving.
‘Goren’ was found to be a perfect match to Henan region which is the biggest Wheat province in China, producing 1/4 of the wheat in China. Wheat for the Henan people is not only about food, it is a representation of life and hope and runs deep in the culture.
The symbol motif of wheat, a symbol of life, repeats itself inside the hotel in almost all of the spaces. The art piece is hung above the round hotel reception and is the first thing you see when you enter the space. It can be viewed from all 360 angles. In ancient China, the circle was an important cultural symbol representing harmony, the balance of the yin and yang and the duality of nature, which is an essential part of Daoist and Chinese medichotal philosophies. For centuries, the circle has influenced scores of Chinese philosophers, scholars and literary figures. The round structure that is holding Goren is communicating with the round fountain behind the glass wall once again representing that important duality of nature - earth and water.
Experiencing the installation changes from day to night and is like a shimmering delicate jewel floating in the air presented to the guests.
Nati, Goren’s designer artist made the trip to install Goren in the middle of covid-19 and was granted a special visa to travel to China at a time that China was closed to all visitors. It was important for Nati to come to the Henan region at the height of Covid, when everything seemed to be shrouded in death and dying in order to showcase the importance of hope and life in these trying times. To create and bring to life Goren for the benefit of the Henan region was an honor and a privilege.
